David O Grady St James Hospital, gave us a fantastic overview of the theory behind why conflict happens as well some great practicle advice on how to handle conflict situations.
Annual Scientific Meeting IAEM

The annual scientific meeting of IAEM in association with IEMTA was held in Limerick this year. The IEMTA AGM was held with election of three new officers. Welcome to Dr Laura Melody (BSTEM rep), Dr Eoin Fogarty (Training and Education) and Dr Michael Quirke (Treasurer). The minutes of the meeting are available here.
The inaugural Trainer of the year award was presented to Prof John Ryan, St Vincents University Hospital, Dublin.
The best medical student poster prize, sponsored for the first time by IEMTA, was awarded to Barry O Callaghan NUI Galway for his poster entitled ‘Patients who walkout from our Emergency Departments; is Alcohol an issue?’

IEMTA Summer Scientific Meeting
